smile-in-possibility:

When in Asia - go with the set menu! For this leg of our trip we have a tour guide, and part of our package included lunch at this little restaurant in Siem Reap, with the set menu!

Now that I am deciding to properly commit to blogging (blogspot) I thought this was the perfect thing to do a post about when I get back, among numerous other things! I took a little inspiration from @thelondoner, and her foodie posts. I also reasoned - you’ve got to try it all firstly, and secondly it’s about tastes!

So my review - from the starters I loved the palm heart salad chicken, I definitely detected some peanut flavours, as it reminded us of Jamie’s 30 minute peanut chicken! Th shrimp was a bit underwhelming, didn’t taste that shrimpy, but the fish inside the soup was so good!

Two things that I have my traffic light eyes on for this trip - melon and coconut! They are two things seemingly popular here, but two foods I absolutely can’t stomach. So the fish was fished out the soup haha ☺️ Then onto main choices - began with a sample of all of it, I deliberated that the Fish was AMAZING. Deep fried pieces of fish in a sweet and sour sauce, so good! As was the lemongrass chicken, but the pork turned out to be a coconut satay so sister took that and I had more of the other stuff! That’s the nice thing about taster menus, you get to try stuff and decide what you like ☺️ Then dessert - they were lovely and adapted for me! Melon in a coconut syrup was obviously not going to sing out to me 🙈 so I got a beautifully presented apple! What is nice is that I am already eating more fruit. PTW this is one thing I really stopped doing at uni, all to do with diabetes anxieties. However, banana is the fruit of choice for me here, as everything else is melon! They do the cutest baby bananas, which are much tastier than Gluco-tabs for low blood sugar it must be said 😂

Trying to embrace things, adapt and evolve 👍 if you obsessively count calories and macros, you will miss out on opportunities like this. That is what I keep telling myself. Anxieties will be here, naturally, but I must work through them and embrace this! #life #tastermenu #asia #asianfood #cambodianfood #setmenu #lunch
